Young Bicyclist Stable After Cedar Lane Crash: Howard County Police

The 13-year-old Columbia resident was at shock trauma, police said.

A 13-year-old bicyclist is in stable condition after a collision involving a pickup truck on Cedar Lane in Columbia Monday morning, the Howard County Police Department reported.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Monday, authorities were called to Cedar Lane at Hickory Ridge Road for a crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist, according to police.

Police said the teen was in the crosswalk on Cedar Lane when the collision with a Ford pickup truck occurred, according to preliminary investigation.

The truck was headed south on Cedar Lane near Hickory Ridge Road and the driver, a 69-year-old woman from Jessup, was not injured, police said.

The 13-year-old, who lives in Columbia, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was listed in stable condition, according to police.

Police said that the cause of the crash and details surrounding it remain under investigation.
