Wave of Break-Ins Hits Businesses Across Howard County

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Elkridge: Robbery

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 10, a known suspect displayed a knife to a victim in a hotel room on the 6300 block of Washington Boulevard and stole cell phones, credit cards and identification.

North Laurel: Robbery Attempt

At 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 11, a juvenile suspect, 13, answered the door at a residence on the 9300 block of Katie Lane and displayed a knife to a delivery driver, demanding cash. The victim disarmed the suspect and called police, and officers arrested the suspect.

Ellicott City: Commercial Robbery

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Nov. 13, two unknown suspects approached an employee of the Shell gas station on the 5600 block of Waterloo Road, assaulted the employee, displayed a gun and demanded cash. The employee complied and the suspects fled with cash, a wallet and cigarettes.

Ellicott City: Commercial Break-In

Between 10 p.m. on Nov. 13 and 5 a.m. the following day, an unknown number of suspects broke a glass door of Bethany Lane Baptist Church on the 3000 block of Bethany Lane, entered an office and stole documents.

Columbia: Commercial Break-In

Between 11:57 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 1:30 a.m. the following day, an unknown suspect hid inside Sears at The Mall in Columbia at closing time, pried open cash registers and stole cash.

Elkridge: Commercial Break-In

Between Nov. 9 and 10, an unknown number of suspects entered three commercial trailers on the 7600 block of Washington Boulevard. Suspects stole copper wire from a Crown Electric trailer, tools from a Chegg Hill Mechanical Co. trailer, and a generator, cart and copper pipes from a Blue Dot Co. trailer.

Ellicott City: Commercial Break-In

Between Oct 1 and Nov. 6, an unknown number of suspects entered Bethel Korean Presbyterian Church on the 31000 block of St. Johns Lane and stole musical instruments from the church and a detached trailer.

Between 7 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 5 a.m. the following day, an unknown number of suspects broke a window and entered Great Multitude Presbyterian Church on the 3200 block of Corporate Court and stole a laptop, audio equipment, cash and a check.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Nov. 12, an unknown number of suspects entered The Columbia Connextion on the 3200 block of Corporate Court and stole an air conditioning unit.

Between 8 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. on Nov. 12, an unknown number of suspects broke a glass panel and reached in to open the door of Franciscan Friars Living Quarters on the 12300 block of Folly Quarter Road. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Ellicott City: Commercial Break-In

Between Nov. 12 and Nov. 13, an unknown number of suspects jumped the fence onto the lot of Le Petite Daycare on the 10100 block of Frederick Road, broke a window and entered the building, stealing cash, checks and a gas card.

Columbia: Commercial Break-In

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Nov. 11, an unknown number of suspects pried open storage lockers at Fenland Fields Apartment Complex on the 5300 block of Harpers Farm Road and stole cash. Officers arrested a Catonsville man, 49, and charged him with fourth-degree burglary, theft, trespassing, possession of counterfeit currency, drug possession, drug paraphernalia possession and making false statements to an officer.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Nov. 12, an unknown number of suspects broke a glass door and entered Lord and Taylor at The Mall in Columbia and stole purses.

Columbia: Commercial Break-In

Shortly before 11 a.m. on Nov. 12, an unknown number of suspects entered Rita's on the 8600 block of Guilford Road with a key. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

North Laurel: Commercial Break-In

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, an unknown number of suspects forced open the rear door of Premier Auto Auction on the 9500 block of Lynn Buff Court. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Woodbine: Break-In Attempt

Between Nov. 7 and Nov. 14, an unknown number of suspects attempted to enter a residence on the 1700 block of Old Annapolis Road by tampering with a rear door, but failed to gain entry.

Columbia: Break-In

Between 8:30 a.m. and 9:55 p.m. on Nov. 14, an unknown number of suspects broke a sliding glass door and entered a residence on the 5000 block of Jericho Road, ransacking the residence and stealing cash and jewelry.

Clarksville: Break-In

Between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, an unknown number of suspects broke a sliding glass door and entered a residence on the 6500 block of Tipperary Court, stealing jewelry.

North Laurel: Break-In Attempt

Between 6:30 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. on Nov. 14, an unknown number of suspects attempted to pry open the front door of a residence on the 9000 block of Moonshine Hollow, but failed to gain entry.

Savage: Catburglary

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Nov. 14, an unknown number of suspects broke a window and entered a residence on the 9100 block of Baltimore Street, but residents made noise and the suspects fled.

Columbia: Break-In

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Nov. 10, an unknown number of suspects entered a residence on the 9500 block of Kilimanjaro Road and vandalized the residence.

Laurel: Break-In

At 2 p.m. on Nov. 10, a witness observed an unknown suspect entering a window of a residence on the 9000 block of Manorwood Road. Police said it is unknown whether anything was stolen.

Elkridge: Break-In

Shortly after 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, a known suspect pried open a window of a residence on the 5700 block of Augustine Avenue and removed a bag of his own belongings, while also breaking the victim's windshield. Officers arrested an Elkridge resident, 17, and charged him with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property and trespassing.

Ellicott City: Break-In

Between 12:30 and 4 p.m. on Nov. 11, an unknown number of suspects broke a glass panel and reached in to open the door of a residence on the 11300 block of Cotswold Spring Farm Lane, ransacking a bedroom and stealing jewelry.

Columbia: Break-In Attempt

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 12, an unknown number of suspects attempted to enter a residence on the 8700 block of Tamar Drive by tampering with a front door, but failed to gain entry.

Ellicott City: Break-In

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Nov. 13, an unknown number of suspects activated an alarm while attempting to enter the window of a residence on Governor Bradford Lane. Police said it is unknown whether entry was gained or if anything was stolen.

Columbia: Break-In

Between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Nov. 12, an unknown number of suspects entered a residence on the 7500 block of Rain Flower Way through the sliding glass door and stole a surround-sound system, gaming systems, laptop, television, and DVD player.

Columbia: Break-In

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 13, a known suspect entered a residence on the 5900 block of Turnabout Lane and assaulted a victim. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Ellicott City: Break-In

Between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 10, an unknown number of suspects entered a window of a residence on the 3500 block of Upper Mill Court, stealing two laptops, cash and jewelry.

Savage: Break-In

Between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 10, an unknown number of suspects entered a residence on the 8800 block of Howard Hills Drive and stole collectible coins.

Columbia: Break-In Attempt

Shortly after 5 p.m.on Nov. 11, an attempted break-in was reported at a residence on the 5700 block of Yellowrose Court.

Elkridge: Vehicle Theft

Shortly before 7 a.m. on Nov. 14, a construction vehicle that was stolen Monday was recovered in a nearby wooded area.

Elkridge: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, a vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard. Officers pursued the vehicle and arrested the suspect, a Halethorpe woman, 54, who is being charged with motor vehicle theft and unauthorized removal of property.

Columbia: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 8 a.m. on Nov. 10, a blue 2005 Acura RSXS with MD tags 2AAH37 was stolen from a residence on the 9300 block of Pirates Cove.

North Laurel: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Nov. 10, a scooter was stolen from a residence on the 9800 block of Whiskey Run.

North Laurel: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Nov. 12, a scooter was stolen from a residence on the 9300 block of Canterbury Riding.

Glenelg: Vehicle Theft

Shortly before 10 a.m. on Nov. 12, a white and black Ford F550 was stolen from a residence on the 3800 block of Ten Oaks Road.

Fulton: Vehicle Theft

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Nov. 13, a dirt bike was stolen from a residence on the 12500 block of Lime Kiln Road.

Elkridge: Vehicle Theft Attempt

Shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, a vehicle theft was reported at a residence on the 6700 block of Old Waterloo Road.
