Urn Stolen from Columbia Residence: Howard County Crime Reports

Columbia

Residential burglary - Sweetwind Place

An urn containing ashes was stolen from a hallway closet from a residence near the 5700 block of Sweetwind Pl. sometime between Jan. 14 and 15. Police reported no signs of forced entry, although the rear slider was found open.

Robbery - Columbia 100 Parkway

A man walking down Columbia 100 Parkway on the Hampton Inn Parking lot reported to police he was followed by a man, then robbed at knife-point of his wallet by another man. The victim told police he saw a gray Ford Mustang drive by him several times, and believed the suspect may have escaped in the Mustang.

Police described the suspect as a black male, approximately five-foot-10-inches, wearing a ski mask, gloves, a dark hoodie and long pants.

Residential burglary - Linden Linthicum Lane

A mini computer, E-reader, and pillowcase were reported stolen from a residence near the 12100 block of Linden Linthicum Lane during the afternoon of Jan. 14. Police said someone smashed a hole in the rear sliding glass door to gain entry.

Residential burglary - Morningbird Lane

Two jewelry boxes and a pillow case were reported stolen from a residence near the 5800 block of Morningbird Lane sometime during the evening of Jan. 14. The resident returned home to find a rear sliding door open.

Residential burglary - Majors Lane

A first floor bathroom window was pried open to gain entry to a residence on the 6100 block of Majors Lane on the evening of Jan. 14. A laptop was reported stolen from the residence.

Attempted break-in - Wild Turkey Lane

A rear screen door and rear window screen was cut on a residence near the 5400 block of Wild Turkey Lane between Dec. 31 and Jan. 14, but no entry was made.

Ellicott City

Vandalism - Fox Hill Court

A garage door was left open near the 9800 block of Fox Hill Court overnight on Jan. 10 and the vehicle inside was vandalized.

Residential break-in - Early Lilacs Path

A rear sliding glass door on a residence near the 12100 block of Early Lilacs Path was broken with an unknown object, but it was unknown if anything was taken from residence between 4 and 6 p.m. on Jan. 13.

Mount Airy

Trespassing, burglary - Shaffersville Road

Police arrested a 25-year-old man, who had no fixed address, after he was seen entering a shed containing dirt bikes and tools near the 1100 block of Shaffersville Road around 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 14. A nearby homeowner had alerted police to the man's presence after he had knocked on the neighbor's door attempting to share religious beliefs. Police arrested the man in the woods, after a short chase, and charged him with fourth-degree burglary and trespassing.

County-wide Vehicle Thefts

A white Ford F-250 was reported stolen near the 1000 block of Saint Michaels Road on Jan. 14.

A 2000 brown Jeep Laredo was reported stolen near the 8700 block of Town and Country Blvd.
