Unlocked Lock Box Helps Burglars Take iPhones: Howard County Crime Reports

Columbia

Residential burglary

A laptop, credit card, ID, cell phone and a gold chain necklace were reported stolen from a residence in the 5600 block of Columbia Road at 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 12. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.

Commercial burglary attempt

An attempt was made to pry open the rear door of Uni Urgent Care at Dobbin Center, but it was not successful due to a security bar on the door sometime overnight on Sept. 8 - 9.

Commercial burglary

Two Apple iPhones were stolen from Verizon at Dobbin Center after someone took a key out of an unlocked combination box overnight on Sept. 8.

Construction site burglary

Someone broke padlocks off of seven storage containers at a construction site in the 7500 block of Grace Dr., and items were taken from two containers including hand tools, copper fittings, copper wire and a welder sometime between Sept. 6 - 9.

Ellicott City


Residential burglary

A vacant home was broken into in the 2800 block of Rogers Ave. and all of the copper tubing to the baseboard heating system was stolen sometime between Aug. 15 - Sept. 9.

Commercial burglary attempt

Someone attempted to enter the rear door of Latin Mart in the 8500 block of Baltimore National Pkwy., but no entry was made overnight on Sept. 8 - 9.

Elkridge

Commercial burglary

Someone cut two holes in fences and damaged the front gate locking mechanism at Communication Construction group in the 6300 block of Macaw Ct. In total nine construction vans were entered by breaking the locks on the vans. A copper spool and various tools were stolen sometime between Sept. 6 and Sept. 9.

Clarksville

Commercial burglary arrest

A television was stolen from Linden Linthicum Methodist Church in the 12100 block of Linden Linthicum Lane on Sept. 11. Police later charged a Clarksville man in the burglary.

North Laurel

Residential burglary

Someone pried open the front door of an apartment in the 9100 block of Bourbon St. on Sept. 12 around 11:15 a.m., ransacked a bedroom and stole a laptop and a Blu-ray player. The suspect also moved a TV to the front door, but wasn't able to take it from the apartment.

Trespassing / Possible break-in

A man showed up to a residence in the 10500 block of Gorman Road around 9 p.m. on Sept. 12 asking to fight someone who lived at the home. The man beat on the front door and soon after residents inside heard the rear slider shatter, although no entry was gained. The suspect was known to the resident and police are currently investigating.

Fulton

Residential burglary

Someone entered through the front door of a house under construction in the 8100 block of Holly Manor Way sometime between Sept. 10 and Sept. 11, possibly through a rear slider, and stole a kitchen range, a dishwasher and a backsplash. Police found tracks showing a vehicle backed up to the rear slider.

Jessup

Residential burglary

Someone entered two unlocked vehicles inside an open garage in the 9400 block of Indigo Ct. around 8 p.m. on Sept. 10 and stole property and scattered the interior of the vehicles.

County-wide Vehicle Thefts

A 2006 silver Hyundai Azera was reported stolen in the 5600 block of Columbia Rd. on Sept. 6.

A 2007 white Chevrolet Tahoe was reported stolen in the 7100 block of Maiden Point Pl. on Sept. 9.

A white 2013 International 26-foot box truck was reported stolen from Enterprise in the 8200 block of Patuxent Range Rd. on Sept. 9.
