Police: Two Men Charged in Columbia Home Invasion

The men stormed into a house, assaulting the resident and stole a safe containing gold, cash, jewelry and prescription drugs, according to police.

Howard County police said they have charged two men with robbery, theft and burglary after they barged into a house, assaulted the homeowner and stole a safe containing gold, cash, jewelry and prescription drugs.

Police said Jordan Ingram, 23, of Randallstown, and Dennis G. Smith, 24, of Hyattsville, were charged in the robbery that occurred around 3:30 a.m. March 28 at a residence in the 9000 block of Watchlight Court. Police said they are searching for a third man who is suspected to be involved in the incident.

Ingram was also charged with assault, police said.

According to police, the three men knocked on the door of the residence and when the homeowner opened it, one of the men, believed by police to be Ingram, struck the homeowner in the head.

Then the three men, who were wearing masks, stole the safe from a closet, said police. As they were leaving, one of the men assaulted the homeowner again, causing minor injuries, according to police.

Police said they tracked down Ingram and Smith after linking them to a white SUV that was seen leaving the scene.

Police reported a witness who heard the commotion saw a white SUV leaving the area. Also, a confidential source gave them a tip that Ingram and Smith may have been involved, said police.

Police said they later observed Ingram driving a white Mercury Mountaineer SUV, which matched the description of what the witness had seen. The Mountaineer was pulled over and Ingram was arrested, according to police.

Smith later turned himself in after learning there was a warrant for his arrest, said police.

Some of the stolen items were found and recovered at the suspects' homes, reported police.
