Two Armed Robberies Reported Near AMC Theatres in Columbia

Four individuals reported being robbed near the theaters at the Mall in Columbia on Saturday night, according to police.


Howard County Police are investigating two reports of armed robberies near AMC Theatres in Columbia.

The first incident was reported around 11 p.m. on Saturday night. Police said a man and his friend were walking home from the movie theaters near the Columbia Mall when they were approached by four men in the 10400 block of Twin Rivers Road. One of the men pulled a handgun and demanded belongings from the two who were walking, while another man stole an iPhone from a victim.

While police were at the scene, a man walked up to police and said his two kids were robbed near the theaters as well around 11 p.m. The victims told police they were walking home from the theater when a group of four males jumped out of the woods. One of the men who jumped from the woods brandished a handgun, while another went through the victims' pockets, stealing cash, according to police.

Police gave a detailed description of one of the suspects, describing him as a black male, with a light complexion, with dreadlocks, wearing a hoodie and ski mask.
