Twin Brothers in Shocking Cold Case Had Turbulent Past

Details from the statement of charges released by investigators reveal evidence indicating a violent relationship between twin brothers Wasel and Wael Ali. Wael is accused in Wasel's 2007 killing.

New details from the statement of charges released by investigators  reveal a tumultuous relationship between twin brothers Wasel and Wael Ali.

According to charging documents, friends told officials arguments between the two would result in physical violence, including choking. The fights allegedly stemmed from conflicts over multiple run-ins with the law.

The charges indicate that the brothers enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2007 and went absent without leave after boot camp, stealing a U.S. government vehicle, which they then used to impersonate police and to conduct traffic stops.

Both brothers were arrested and received probation in July 2007 after their home was searched and investigators found the vehicle and a U.S. government-issued handgun.

The investigation into the case of their police impersonations in Arlington County, Va., led to another search of their home in August 2007, the day that at at the and implicated his brother, the documents said.

Later that day Wasel’s family reported him missing.

Wasel’s body was found five days later on a secluded dirt path in the woods behind the 12000 block of Green Meadow Drive in Columbia. An autopsy revealed he died as a result of a neck injury.

Wael was extradited back to Howard County from where he was living in Marietta, GA, however his bail review hearing has been postponed until Monday because his defense counsel was unable to be present, said State’s Attorney spokesman T. Wayne Kirwan.

Wow --- this is some criminal histiory. Why would they be out on probation? What judge decided that? What kind of family would produce violent criminals like these two?
