Teen Charged with Robbery, Shooting Boy in Eye with BB Gun

Police said a boy shot another boy in the eye with a BB gun after committing a robbery.

Howard County Police said they arrested a 15-year-old boy and charged him with assault and robbery after linking him to two separate incidents—a robbery and BB gun shooting—on Tuesday.

Police said both incidents involved two suspects, the boy who was arrested and another boy.

In the first, the two boys approached two other boys who were riding bicycles near the intersection of Oakland Mills Road and Procopio Circle around 4 p.m. The 15-year-old pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and demanded their bikes, which were handed over. The two suspects fled on the bikes, said police.

In the second incident, a short time later, police received a call for a BB gun shooting near the 7500 block of Monarch Mills Way. A different boy, 16, told police two other boys confronted him and one of the boys shot him with a BB gun in the eye. Nothing was taken in the incident, but the boy was transported to the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Center, according to police.

Police said the robbery and assault occurred within 30 minutes of one another.

Police identified the suspect believed to be involved in both incidents through an investigation and then arrested him. Officers are continuing to work to identify the second suspect.

Police did not release the name of the suspect because of his juvenile status.
