Teen Driver Charged in Crash After Police Chase

Howard County police chased the vehicle when it refused to pull over for traffic stop.

A 16-year-old Baltimore County driver was charged this morning in connection with a crash after a police chase, according to Howard County police spokeswoman Elizabeth Schroen.

At about 2:30 a.m., a Howard County police officer attempted to make a traffic stop at MD Route 108 and Centennial Lane, police said.

When the vehicle failed to stop, the officer began a pursuit. At MD 108 at Wainwright road, the suspect vehicle left the road and struck a pole, according to Schroen.

The driver and a passenger were taken to Howard County General Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Schroen.

The vehicle's driver, a 16-year-old male from Randallstown, was found to be wanted for a violation of probation in another county, police said.

He was also found to have no driver’s license and was driving the vehicle without authorization of its owner, according to Schroen.

No name was released because the suspect is a juvenile.

The female passenger, also a juvenile, was not charged and was released from the hospital this morning.
