Strong Arm Robbery in Wilde Lake, Break-ins Elsewhere: Howard County Crime Roundup

A sampling of crime reported in Columbia and around Howard County.

COMPILED FROM THE DAILY POLICE BULLETIN... WILDE LAKE: ROBBERY

Police are looking for four people suspected of assaulting and robbing a person Monday evening in Wilde Lake in Columbia.

The victim was walking at about 7:15 p.m. near the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center when four people approached him. Two of the suspects punched the victim, and the suspects then went through his pockets and took money, police said.

The victim did suffer minor injuries but did not need to be taken to the hospital, police said.

Police only received descriptions of two of the four suspects. One suspect was described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, 5-foot-9 with a medium build and wearing a gray jacket. The other suspect was described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, 5-foot-9 with a medium build and wearing a dark jacket.

The case is under investigation, police said.

OAKLAND MILLS: BREAK-IN

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in on the 5400 block of Coon Hunt Court. The suspect or suspects entered through an unlocked front door. The break-in happened sometime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

ELLICOTT CITY: BURGLARY

A purse was stolen following a burglary on the 4500 block of Yorkshire Drive. The purse was in a garage, which the suspect or suspects entered by unknown means. The burglary was reported at 8:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23.

LAUREL: BREAK-IN ATTEMPT

No entry was gained in an attempted break-in at Cherry Tree Liquors on the 11200 block of Scaggsville Road. The suspect tried to break a glass front door, setting off an alarm. The attempted break-in was reported at 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24.

COLUMBIA, Elkridge, LAUREL: VEHICLE THEFTS

- Columbia: Construction equipment was stolen from the 6400 block of Freetown Road in Hickory Ridge. It was reported stolen at 8:49 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

- Elkridge: A blue 2003 Nissan Murano with no license plates was stolen from the 7100 block of Dorsey Run Road. It was reported stolen 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17. 

- Laurel: A white Dodge Caravan with Alabama dealer tags was stolen from the 9600 block of Washington Boulevard. The vehicle had been left unlocked with its motor running. It was reported stolen at 9:42 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

- Laurel: A 2009 Honda Civic was stolen from the 9600 block of Canterbury Riding. It was reported stolen at 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23.

-  Jessup: A brown 2002 Ford F-350 with Maryland license plate 97L054 was stolen from the 7400 block of Assateague Drive. It was reported stolen at 2:19 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22. (This entry ran on a previous crime roundup but is being run again because of updated information.)
