Stevens Forest Road Apartment Fire Injures Seven, Displaces Families

Fire officials have not yet determined a cause.

A fire raced through a three-story apartment building early Thursday, trapping residents, injuring seven and forcing 34 residents to flee their homes, fire officials said.

At one point, several residents were trapped in the building in the 5600 block of Stevens Forest Road. They were rescued by firefighters from the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue, which responded at about 1:30 a.m.

Of the seven injured, two adults and one child were taken to the hospital, though none of the injuries were believed to be life threatening, fire officials said. The other four were treated for minor injuries.
