Seven Laurel Teens Charged in Stomping Assault Over iPhone, Cash

The teens were charged in an attack on a 16-year-old boy whose jaw was broken, said police.

Police have arrested seven Laurel teens in an assault and robbery of a Columbia teen in which police said the suspects punched and stomped the victim before taking his cell phone and money.

The incident occurred Aug. 2 when the 16-year-old boy was walking near the intersection of Hayshed Lane and Yellowrose Court around 10 a.m., police said. A group of teenagers pulled up in a black SUV, exited the vehicle and started to punch and stomp the victim, stealing his iPhone and cash, according to police.

The victim was hospitalized with a fractured jaw, police said.

The following, all from Laurel, have been charged as adults with second-degree assault, robbery, theft and reckless endangerment:

  • Drew Jeremiah Abraham, 17
  • Shareff Abdul Malik Aroi, 16
  • Dario Glendell Burley, Jr., 17
  • Abdule Rahman Cole, 16
  • Jeffrey Michelet Francois, 18
  • Davon Phillip Jones, 16
  • Ike Oheneba Lawrence, Jr., 16
All suspects were later released on $20,000 bail, except Aroi, who was held on a $25,000 bond.

Police said through an investigation they were able to identify Abraham, who drives a black SUV, as a possible suspect. Police then gathered additional information, the specifics of which they did not release, to link the other six individuals to the attack.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, but ask that anyone with additional information contact them at 410-313-STOP.
