Robbery in Elkridge, Break-ins in Four Towns: Howard County Crime Roundup

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Elkridge: Burglary

Police are investigating whether a robbery at gunpoint early Monday morning at an Elkridge motel is related to a similar robbery that happened nearby last week.

The most recent robbery was reported at 1:18 a.m. on the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard.

The victims were outside of a motel room when two people approached them, displayed a gun, demanded valuables and got away with a purse, a bag containing clothing, an mp3 player and a cell phone. The suspects left in a waiting vehicle that drove north on Route 1.

One suspect was described as a black male, 5-foot-10, between 160 and 170 pounds, with a tattoo on his face near his eye, gold teeth, and wearing a dark shirt and jeans. The other suspect was described as a black male, 6-foot-4, approximately 170 pounds and with gold teeth.

The robbery last week was reported at 3:16 a.m. on June 1, also in a motel parking lot, this one on the 6100 block of Washington Boulevard. 

The victim in that robbery was approached by two men, who displayed a gun, demanded valuables, and got away with a cell phone, jewelry and car keys. The suspects fled on foot toward Bonnie View Lane.

One suspect was described as 6-feet, medium build, and wearing a blue polo shirt and blue jeans. The other suspect was described as 6-feet, medium build, and wearing a white T-shirt.

“Detectives are investigating similarities between these two robberies,” said Elizabeth Schroen, spokeswoman for the Howard County Police Department. “Both occurred in motel parking lots in the same geographic area, and the suspect descriptions are similar.”

Owen Brown: Robbery

A “known suspect” approached a victim as she talked with a friend on the 6600 block of Cradlerock Way, displayed a knife and took her cell phone. The robbery was reported at 3:55 a.m. on Sunday, June 5.

Dorsey’s Search: Break-in

It was not known what, if anything, was stolen following a break-in at the Dorsey’s Search Pool on the 4600 block of Columbia Road. The suspect or suspects got inside after prying a window. The break-in happened sometime between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. 

Long Reach: Break-in

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in at a vacant apartment on the 8600 block of Cobblefield Drive. The suspect or suspects got inside after forcing open a window. Police believe the residence was used for a party. There was minor damage to the carpeting inside. The break-in happened sometime between 4 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and 11:53 a.m. on Saturday, June 4.

Harper’s Choice: Break-in attempt

No entry was made during an attempted break-in at a residence on the 5400 block of Bucksaw Court. The suspect or suspects tried to get inside by breaking a rear window. The attempted break-in happened sometime between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday, June 3. 

Ellicott City: Burglary

A bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage at a residence on the 10300 block of Royal Ascot Court. The burglary happened sometime between 4 a.m. and 8:53 a.m. on Saturday, June 4.

Laurel: Break-in

It was not known what, if anything, was stolen following a break-in at a residence on the 9000 block of Moonshine Hollow. The suspect or suspects got inside after tampering with the front door. The break-in was reported at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3. 

Elkridge: Burglary

A washer and a dryer were stolen from a residence on the 6600 block of Washington Boulevard. There were no signs of forced entry. The burglary happened sometime between 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, and 12:27 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. 

Elkridge: Burglary 

Cash and prescription medication were stolen from a residence on the 8000 block of Keeton Road. The suspect or suspects got inside after prying open a side door. The burglary happened sometime between 8 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 5.

Laurel, Savage: Vehicle thefts

- A black 2009 Suzuki GSX1300R with Maryland license plate D39519 was stolen from the 9100 block of Thamesmeade Road. It was reported stolen at 9:48 a.m. on Sunday, June 5.

- A green 2000 Plymouth Voyager with Maryland license plate 3AE6442 was stolen from the 8500 block of Storch Woods Drive. It was reported stolen at 11:01 a.m. on Sunday, June 5.
