Robberies, Indecent Exposures and Burglaries: Howard County Crime Roundup

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Elkridge: Robbery

An employee at the Shell gas station on the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard was robbed at knifepoint Sunday evening, according to police.

The robbery was reported at 8:35 p.m. on June 19. Two suspects approached an employee, showed a knife, demanded cash and then fled in an unknown direction, police said.

One suspect was described as a white male, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8, with a thin build, and wearing a long-sleeved black shirt and a black hat.

The other suspect was described as a white male, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8, with a heavy build, and wearing a black knit hat and a stocking over his face.

Jessup: Robbery

A victim was exiting a bus at the intersection of Assateague Road and Pocomoke Drive when a small group of people assaulted him and took his money, police said. The victim was not able to give any descriptions of the suspects. The robbery was reported at 6:21 p.m. on Friday, June 18.

Running Brook: Indecent exposure

A man was seen exposing himself near the dam at Wilde Lake on the 10000 block of Hyla Brook Road. The suspect was described as between 40 and 50 years old, with a mustache, dark hair and wearing dark khaki pants.

Laurel: Indecent exposure (with arrest)

A Waldorf man was arrested Friday night after allegedly being seen exposing himself on the 9700 block of Whiskey Run Road, according to police.

Jon Caleb Michael Gray, 24, of 4867 Champlain Court, has been charged with one count of indecent exposure and one count of disorderly conduct, according to online court records.

The incident was reported at 9:39 p.m. on June 17.

Harper’s Choice: Burglary

A jar of change was stolen from a home on the 10900 block of Eight Bells Lane. The suspect or suspects got inside through an unlocked window. The burglary happened sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 19.

Beaverbrook: Break-in

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in at a home on the 5200 block of Lynngate Road. The suspect or suspects got inside after breaking a glass rear door. The break-in was reported at 10:05 p.m. on Friday, June 17.

Ellicott City: Burglary

Lacrosse sticks were stolen from a garage on the 5300 block of Dunteachin Drive. The suspect or suspects entered by unknown means. Several days later, the victim saw the stolen lacrosse sticks for sale at a used sports goods store and contacted police. The burglary happened sometime between 10 p.m. on Monday, June 13, and 12 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14.

Ellicott City: Break-in

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in at a vacant residence on the 3100 block of Normandy Woods Drive. The residence was vandalized. The break-in was reported at 4:56 p.m. on Sunday, June 19. No other information was available.

Clarksville: Burglary

Electrical wire was stolen from an unlocked shed at Ten Oaks Nursery Garden on the 5700 block of Ten Oaks Road. The burglary happened sometime between 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, and 7 a.m. on Friday, June 17.

Laurel: Burglary (with arrest)

A 13-year-old male from Laurel was charged as a juvenile following a burglary at the Savage Library on the 9500 block of Durness Lane, according to police.

Officers were called to the library at about 6:54 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, for reports of a burglary in process. Police said the suspect had gotten inside through the roof, damaged a vending machine and stolen food. The food was in the suspect’s backpack, police said.

Police are looking into whether this burglary is related to two other break-ins (on March 25 and May 13) at the Savage Library in which food was stolen from the vending machine.

Elkridge: Burglary

Guns, collectable coins, cash, jewelry and video game systems were stolen from a residence on the 6300 block of Wimbledon Court. There were no signs of forced entry. The burglary was reported at 9:48 p.m. on Saturday, June 18.

Columbia and Jessup: Vehicle thefts (with one arrest and vehicle recovery)

- Columbia: A silver 2004 Volkswagen Passat was stolen from the 9800 block of Softwater Way. It was reported stolen at 6:49 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, but was later recovered, with a 17-year-old male arrested and charged as a juvenile.

- Columbia: A 1998 International truck—a Pepsi truck—with Maryland license plate 78V391 was stolen from the 9000 block of Snowden River Parkway. It was reported stolen at 1:24 p.m. on Thursday, June 16.

- Columbia: A 1964 Cadillac with Maryland license plate L0H924 was stolen from the 6000 block of Majors Lane. It was reported stolen at 1:54 p.m. on Thursday, June 16.

- Columbia: A blue 1999 Yamaha with Maryland license plate 9D0406 was stolen from the 4900 block of Blue Wing Court. It was reported stolen at 1:50 p.m. on Friday, June 17.

- Columbia: A white 2001 Jeep Cherokee with Maryland license plate 43551M8 was stolen from the 9200 block of Oakland Place. It was reported stolen at 6:06 a.m. on Saturday, June 18.

- Jessup: A blue and white 2007 Yamaha TTR 90 dirt bike was stolen from the 7500 block of Montevideo Road. It was reported stolen at 12:57 a.m. on Saturday, June 18.
