Resident Wakes Up, Scares Off Possible Burglar: Crime Reports

Columbia
Residential burglary attempt
A man investigating a noise coming from his living room around 3 a.m. spotted someone trying to climb through a window into his home in the 10400 block of Hickory Ridge Rd. on Oct. 6. The suspect saw the resident and ran into nearby woods. Police found the window's screen pried off and attempts made to open the sliding window.
Residential burglary
Someone shattered a door frame, broke a rear sliding door, and ransacked the kitchen, guest bedroom and master bedroom of a house in the 11700 block of Lone Tree Court during the day on Oct. 4. Prescription medication was reported stolen.
Ellicott City
Residential burglary
Jewelry, band bags, and electronics were stolen from a residence in the 9700 block of Robert Jay Way. Police reported someone entered through a second floor bathroom window and then exited from the front door between 6:30 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. on Oct. 4.
Elkridge
Someone cut locks on two storage trailers and stole an estimated 170 feet of copper tubing overnight on Oct. 2 to Oct. 3 in the 7500 block of Cemetery Lane.
North Laurel
Residential burglary attempt
A neighbor saw two males attempting to pry open a window at a residence in the 9800 block of Whiskey Run. The neighbor watched as one of the men walked to another residence and started knocking on the door. Then the neighbor chased after the suspects, who ran away around 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 3.
Residential break-in
A rear screen door was shattered, but nothing was missing from a residence in the 9400 block of Mayflower Court on Oct. 3.
Residential burglary
Jewelry was stolen from a residence in the 9700 block of Baltimore Ave. after someone cut the screen to a kitchen window to climb inside during the morning of Oct. 3.
Mt. Airy
Residential burglary
Copper wiring was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 1400 block of Long Corner Road sometime between July 1 and Oct. 3.
Jessup
Hotel room burglary
Someone entered a hotel room at La Quinta Inn in the 7300 block of Crestmount Road using a keycard and stole a suitcase, electronic gaming system, laptop and music player sometime during the day on Oct. 6.
