Possible Burglar Flees Out Front Door: Howard County Crime Roundup

Columbia

Robbery – Cheesecake Factory

A man was reportedly robbed inside the Cheesecake Factory at the Mall in Columbia after he entered the bathroom at the restaurant and two men stole his watch, cell phone and Nike shoes on Dec. 5 between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., police said. Find more information about this incident on Columbia Patch.

Residential Burglary – Green Mountain Circle

Police said they are looking for a suspicious man described by residents of an apartment complex near the 5000 block of Green Mountain Circle after a ground floor apartment was burglarized—bedroom ransacked, five cameras and cash taken—between 12:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 5. Police reported the man was seen carrying a black shoulder bag while knocking on the victim’s door between 7:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.

  • Man’s Description: Hispanic male or light complexion black male, about 20 years old, 5-foot-10-inches, thin, dark shaggy shoulder length hair, wearing a blue jacket and tan or green pants

Residential Burglary – Clocktower Lane

Three flat screen TVs, an Xbox, two computers and an iPad were reported stolen from an apartment on the 9700 block of Clocktower Lane sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 and 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 4. Police reported an unknown person or persons might have gained entry through a rear sliding door.

Ellicott City

Residential Burglary – Morningside Lane

A person fled out the front door from a residence on the 5100 block of Morningside Lane after the homeowner returned home at 2:05 p.m. on Dec. 4. The homeowner reported rolls of coins were stolen. Police said entry was made through a rear bay window, which was pried open.

Residential Burglary – Kaitlins Court

A jewelry box was reported stolen after an unknown person or persons smashed a rear sliding door at a residence on the 2200 block of Kaitlins Court sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Dec. 4.

Commercial Burglary – Subway, University Blvd

A person reportedly gained entry to a Subway restaurant on the 6000 block of University Boulevard by throwing a rock through a rear glass door. Once inside, the person forced open a locked office door with a crowbar, but nothing was reported stolen at 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 4.

Commercial Burglary – Pro Nails, University Boulevard

Like the nearby Subway break-in, a person reportedly smashed the rear glass door of Pro Nails on the 6000 block of University Boulevard to gain entry. Inside, the person removed a piece of plastic from a cash register, which was empty. Nothing was reported stolen at 3:25 a.m. on Dec. 4.

Commercial Burglary Attempt – Shahla Radfar Family & Cosmetic Detistry

A large hole was reported in a window screen at the rear of the business. Police did not report anything was stolen. The incident took place sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 4, according to police.

North Laurel

Residential Burglary – Waterside Court 

A safe in the bedroom of a residence on the 8600 block of Waterside Court was opened, but it is unknown if anything was stolen after an unknown person or persons made entry into the residence by throwing a rock through a rear glass door around 8 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Residential Burglary – Sand Cherry Lane

A woman returned home after being out of town from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3 to find her garage door open, the power off and items inside her house destroyed. Police reported picture frames and flower pots knocked over, porcelain fixtures broken and trees and chairs turned over at the residence near the 8400 block of Sand Cherry Lane.

Savage

Commercial Burglary – Ryder Transportation, Corridor Rd.

A 5-foot wide hole was cut in the fence at Ryder Transportation near the 8800 block of Corridor Road and an unknown person or persons reportedly stole approximately 40 large truck tires from a storage container. The incident occurred between 9:53 p.m. and midnight on Dec. 1.

County-wide Vehicle Thefts

A 1999 van, no make provided, was reported stolen near the 7300 block of Kerry Hill Court in Columbia at approximately 2:54 a.m. on Nov. 30.

A 2009 white GMC Penske truck was reported stolen near the 8000 block of Rappahannock Avenue on Nov. 30 at 8:10 a.m.

A moped was reported stolen from the 3200 block of Kaiser Drive in Ellicott City at 8:05 a.m. on Dec. 4.

A 2000 burgundy Lincoln, no model provided, was reported stolen near the 7300 block of Mossy Brink Court in Columbia on Dec. 4 at 9:31 a.m.

A white Doge Ram van was reported stolen near the 9100 block of Moonshine Hollow in North Laurel sometime between 10 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 5 a.m. on Dec. 6.

A 2005 blue with yellow plow Kawasaki KFX700 ATV was reported stolen near the 8900 block of Old Montgomery Road in Ellicott City on Dec. 3 at 7:10 p.m.
