Police Release Video of Exxon Robbery Suspect

Police say the suspect went to the store a few hours before returning to rob it.

Police are looking for a man in connection with the second robbery of the same Howard County gas station in a less than a month.

A reward of up to $500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Police responded to a reported robbery at the Exxon gas station on the 8200 block of Snowden River Parkway in Columbia at about 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 19. Investigators say a man entered the business wearing a yellow bandanna covering his face, showed a knife and demanded money.

Police say the clerk gave the money to the man, who also took several cartons of cigarettes before leaving, getting into the passenger side of a waiting vehicle.

Surveillance footage shows the same man had entered the store about three hours prior to the robbery wearing the same clothes except for the bandanna, according to police.

The robber is described as a black man, about six-feet-tall and weighing between 150 and 180 lbs. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, a yellow bandanna covering his face, blue jeans, dark shoes and dark gloves.

Police recently arrested two men for robbing the same gas station on Jan. 5. In that incident, police said one of the two robbers threw hot coffee onto a clerk, then both men showed guns and took money from the register.

Police are asking anyone with information about this robbery to call 410-313-STOP. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips can also be submitted through the county’s iWatchHowardCounty smartphone application.
