Police: Man Asks Laurel Gas Station For Sugar, Then Robs It

The robbery happened Friday morning in the Anne Arundel County section of Laurel.

Anne Arundel County police are looking for a man suspected of robbing a Laurel gas station early Friday.

The robbery occurred about 3:24 a.m. at the Exxon gas station on the 3300 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road, police said.

The gas station clerk was inside his booth in the station's store when a man approached him and asked for more sugar, according to police. The clerk opened the door to his booth, and then the man started to punch the clerk in the face, police said.

Police said the clerk and the man struggled, and the man got away on foot with money from the cash register.

The clerk suffered minor bruises and was taken to the hospital, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male with a light complexion and a mustache, between 40 and 45, 5-foot-8, approximately 180 pounds, and wearing a long-sleeved khaki sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
