Police Identify 3 Victims in Elkridge Collision

Two of the three Hyattsville men are brothers.

Howard County Police have identified the three men that died in a Thursday morning crash in Elkridge. 

Degly Ubaldo Monroy Melendez, 20, and brothers Carlos Osorio, 25, and Oscar Osorio, 31, were killed. All three are from Hyattsville.

Police say Melendez was driving a Chevy Impala northbound on US Route 1 near Meadowridge Road at about 6 a.m. at a "high rate of speed."

At the same time, a tractor-trailer was driving southbound on Route 1, making a left turn, and the Impala drove into it on the 7500 block of Washington Blvd., according to a preliminary report.

Police say Carlos Osorio was in the front passenger seat of the Impala and Oscar Osorio was in the rear passenger seat.

The truck driver, a 58-year-old man, was not injured in the collision.

All lanes of Route 1 were closed for most of the morning near the scene of the collision.
