One Dead After Elkridge Motorcycle Collision

Police believe the motorcycle's speed contributed to the collision.

A 22-year-old motorcyclist is dead after a Tuesday afternoon collision in Elkridge, according to Howard County Police.

Nicholas Dion Finnegan, a Gambrills resident, was driving northbound on Route 1 near Kit Kat Road at about noon when he crested the hill, according to a statement from police.

The preliminary police investigation indicated that his motorcycle collided with a truck that was trying to make a left turn onto Kit Kat Road from southbound Route 1.

Finnegan was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, according to police. The driver of the truck – owned by Georgetown Paper Stock – was not injured.

Police believe the motorcycle’s speed played a part in the collision and said they do not expect to file charges.
