Police: No Suspects in Columbia Shooting

Police say the victim worked at Maryland Live! Casino.

Police have not identified a suspect in the case of a woman found shot to death in her car in Columbia.

At about 9 a.m. on May 4, police said they received a call from someone who said they saw a woman who appeared injured in a car on the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road. 

Police said they found the woman, Deborah Castellano, 47, in a Toyota Corolla parked in a parking lot. She had been shot multiple times, according to police.

“Police are still investigating possible suspects and motives,” according to police spokesperson Mary Phelan.

Castellano had recently moved to the area from central New York, according to Phelan. She was working at Maryland Live! Casino and lived in the apartment building near where she was found dead.

“For those who knew Deb, she was one of the sweetest people ever,” a commenter wrote on Columbia Patch. “She was also going back to NY to see her daughter graduate from college this weekend.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call at 410-313-STOP. Callers may remain anonymous.

Police are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information about the shooting.
