No Injuries in Late-Night, Two-Alarm House Fire in Dayton

More than 60 firefighters from Howard County and Carroll County were called to the scene.

There were no injuries following a two-alarm house fire that started late Wednesday night in Dayton and continued into early Thursday morning, according to Eric D. Proctor, a battalion chief for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters were called out at about 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday to a home on the 13000 block of Dayton Meadows Court. There, they saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the house's garage and observed that flames had reached to the roof, Proctor said.

A second alarm was put out, which brought a total of approximately 60 firefighters from Howard and Carroll Counties to the scene. The fire was brought under control after about an hour, Proctor said.

Three people and their two cats had escaped from the home prior to firefighters arriving, he said. A local Red Cross chapter was helping them find a temporary place to live.

The fire remains under investigation.
