There were no injuries reported after a third-story apartment fire in Columbia on Saturday afternoon, but some residents have been displaced, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS).
After receiving a 911 call that a blaze had broken out on the 6000 block of Majors Lane in Columbia, firefighters responded and brought the fire under control within 15 minutes, said HCDFRS in a statement.
Some residents evacuated before firefighters arrived on the scene, said the statement.
"Three units were directly damaged by fire, smoke and water," said Battalion Chief Eric Proctor, spokesman for HCDFRS. "The Red Cross has been notified and will be assisting six residents."
HCDFRS said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
