Police officers from Howard County arrived Sunday on two wheels as part of the fifth Police Unity Tour, "a 275-mile bike ride to raise awareness for police officers who died in the line of duty" according to spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn.

The group of 23 Howard County police officers and support personnel took part in the ride, which began in Philadelphia. They have raised more than $55,000 for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, according to Llewellyn.

"Police Week is super important to recognize the importance and sacrafice of our law enforcement officers, especially our fallen heroes," said Steve Groeninger, senior director of communications for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

The DC weather forecast for Police Week looks to be good, with high temperatures in the upper 60s on Sunday and lower 80s on Thursday.

This year U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will deliver the keynote address at the 25th Annual Candlelight Vigil on Monday evening of May 13.

There, the names of the officers killed while on duty, will be read.

“At our annual Candlelight Vigil, we honor all of the brave men and women of law enforcement who put the safety and protection of others ahead of their own—and who made the ultimate sacrifice in the process,” Craig W. Floyd, chairman and CEO of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, said in a press release.

The names of 321 U.S. law enforcement officers -- 120 who died in the line of duty in 2012 and 201 officers who died earlier -- have been engraved on the National Law Enforcement Memorial as part of a wreath-laying ceremony to be held Wednesday.

More than 19,000 names are now on the wall.
