(UPDATED 3/2, 8:30 a.m.) Pennsylvania Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash in Jessup

This is the second death from a motorcycle crash in Jessup in the past two weeks.

A Pennsylvania man died Tuesday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding in Jessup crashed into another vehicle, according to the Howard County Police Department.

The victim has been identified as Stacy Summers, a 38-year-old man from Spring Grove in York County.

Summers was riding a KTM SMR 525 Enduro at about 2:08 p.m. in the 7900 block of Oceano Avenue when he lost control of his motorcycle in the parking lot of Frank's Seafood. He hit a curb and then collided with the back of a pickup truck, police said. Summers was not wearing a helmet.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck – Timothy Mark Sughrue, 54, of Centreville – was not injured in the crash, police said.

Police believe the motorcycle might have had a mechanical malfunction. The truck was moving "at a slow rate of speed and could not have avoided the collision, as it was struck in the back," police said in a written statement.

The crash remains under investigation.

This is the second fatal motorcycle crash in Jessup in recent weeks. An  in a crash about two weeks ago.

Motorcyclist Hospitalized Following Crash in Jessup

A man on a motorcycle has been hospitalized following a collision with another vehicle in Jessup on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The crash was between a motorcycle and a Chevrolet, which led to the man on the motorcycle being taken by ambulance to Howard County General Hospital, said Schroen, who could not comment on the condition or identity of the people involved.

Two weeks ago, an  in another Jessup motorcycle collision within two miles of this most recent crash.
