Man Critically Injured in Collision Near Mall

Police said they may know what caused the collision.

 

A Baltimore man was critically injured after his vehicle hopped a curb and struck a concrete pole in a parking garage adjacent to the Mall in Columbia.

Shmuel Yaakov Kleiner, 60, of Baltimore, was driving a 2003 Acura MDX van around 7:09 p.m. on Thursday evening inside a parking garage at 10490 Little Patuxent Parkway when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a pole, according to police.

Kleiner was flown by helicopter to the shock trauma center in Baltimore in critical condition, according to police.

Police said the accident is currently under investigation, but they are looking into the possibility that Kleiner may have suffered a medical emergency before the collision.
