Gunman Attempts Robbery in Columbia Driveway: Howard County Crime Reports

Columbia 

Armed Robbery

A man returning home was in his driveway in the 8800 block of Goose Landing Circle when a minivan approached. The driver of the minivan asked the man what time it was, when the man turned to check and then turned back, the driver was pointing a handgun at him, demanding money. The man told the driver he had no money, and the driver left in the minivan. The incident was reported around 8 a.m. on March 18.

A vehicle theft was reported in the same block later that night. Around 3 a.m. on March 19 a 1999 Chrysler Town and Country van, with no tags, was reported stolen in the 8800 block of Goose Landing Circle.

Breaking and Entering

A vacant property in the 6600 block of Fortnight Court was entered with no apparent force sometime on March 19. Police found a plastic bag containing marijuana and cigar innards left behind, although nothing was reported missing.

Residential Burglary

Someone removed a window screen and forced open a dining room window, damaging a lock, to gain entry to a home in the 6900 block of Spinning Seed sometime between March 12 and March 19. Jewelry and a plastic bag containing U.S. coins as well as military and law enforcement tribute coins were stolen.

A shed in the 6600 block of Buckstone Court was broken into and a dirt bike was stolen overnight on March 20.

Jessup

Commercial burglary – Apnar Bazaar

A rock was used to break the front window of Apnaar Bazaar in the 10100 block of Washington Boulevard. Costume jewelry and a green bag containing cash was stolen overnight on March 18–19.

Ellicott City

Residential Burglary – Late Reported

A homeowner in the 10100 block of Bracken Drive reported she heard a knock on her door around 9:30 a.m. on March 14, which she ignored, but when she went into her living room she saw an unknown man, who fled upon seeing her. Later, she discovered a ring missing. 

Elkridge

Attempted Residential Burglary

A neighbor spotted someone attempting to enter a foreclosed home in the 6400 block of Old Washington Road around 5:30 p.m. on March 18. Police investigating the scene found no entry made to the residence or its backyard shed.

Mt. Airy

Residential Burglary

Jewelry was taken from the master bedroom of a residence in the 700 block of Weller Drive sometime between noon and 8:30 p.m. on March 18. Police reported finding a rear deck door unlocked.

Countywide Vehicle Thefts

A 2012 Yamaha R1 was reported stolen on Wild Ginger Court around 1:30 p.m. on March 20.

Two ATVs were reported stolen in the 13800 block of Rover Mill Road around 11 a.m. on March 19.
