Two Mall Shooting Victims and Gunman Identified

Police said a 21-year-old woman from College Park was also killed.

UPDATED - Jan. 26 - 10 a.m.

Howard County police said an Mt. Airy man and a College Park woman were killed in a shooting in The Mall in Columbia Saturday morning.

Police said Sunday morning they've identified the shooter as Darion Marcus Aguilar, 19, of College Park. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police reported.

Police said via their Twitter account that Brianna Benlolo, 21, of College Park and Tyler Johnson, 25, of Mt. Airy were the two victims. The shooting took place inside Zumiez, a skate shop, on the second floor of the mall where both victims were employees, according to police.

Police originally said Johnson was from Ellicott City, but later determined he had recently moved to Mt. Airy.

Police said they have not established a relationship between Aguilar and the victims, one of whom lived in College Park. A .12-gauge shotgun was used in the attack and a total of six to eight shots were fired, police said.

Benlolo's Facebook page lists her as the first assistant manager at Zumiez in Columbia and her hometown as Cocoa Beach, FL. The page says she's worked at the store since 2012. Johnson's Twitter account states he's worked at Zumiez since Nov. 2013.

The mall has now been cleared, said police in a press conference at 4 p.m. Saturday. Investigators said they were not able to immediately approach the body of the shooter because he had significant amounts of ammunition and police feared he may also have had explosives.
