Husband and Wife Arrested, Charged in Western Howard County Burglaries

With the arrests, police have closed their investigations into four burglaries, but they continue to look into whether the couple is connected with several other break-ins in the area.

Police believe a husband and wife from Carroll County are responsible for four burglaries in western Howard County—and possibly for several more in the area, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Edward James Johnson, 28, of 1320 Buckhorn Road in Sykesville, was arrested Friday and is being held at the Howard County Detention Center in Jessup on $2,600 bond.

He has a lengthy criminal history, including past arrests for burglary, according to court records.

Robin Renee Johnson, 27, also of Sykesville, was arrested Saturday and has been released from the detention center on unsecured bond.

Both have been charged with one count each of first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, and one count of theft.

Police say their investigation led them to some of the stolen property, which in turn led them to the Johnsons.

The arrests mean police have closed their investigations into burglaries on Feb. 24 on the 14100 block of Rover Mill Road in West Friendship; March 3 on the 2500 block of Thompson Drive in Marriottsville; March 4 on the 700 block of Driver Road in Marriottsville; and March 10 on the 14300 block of Frederick Road in Cooksville.

Approximately $4,500 worth of property was stolen during those four burglaries, police said.

And investigators are continuing to look into whether the Johnsons are connected with a number of other burglaries in the past few months in western Howard County.
