Howard County Police Make Arrest in Columbia Shooting

Eric Brandon Miller is charged in connection with the Jan. 11 shooting of Marcus Lee.

Howard County police have made an arrest in the non-fatal shooting that occurred in Columbia Jan. 11, according to a statement from the department.

Eric Brandon Miller, 25, of the 1300 block of Whitman Drive, was charged with first- and second-degree assault in the shooting of Marcus Lee, 20, of Columbia.

Lee, who was taken to Baltimore's R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, remains in stable condition, according to the statement.

Police were called to Sam's Mart in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 11 after Lee was shot and ran into the store for help.

During their investigation, detectives were lead to people who had information about the shooting, according to the statement. Police determined that the shooting had taken place inside a car during a drug deal.

Police believe Lee was selling a large amount of marijuana to Miller and an accomplice at the time of the shooting.

Detectives believe that during the meeting, the accomplice fired one shot at Lee, who then left the car and ran into the store for help.

Miller and the accomplice then drove off, according to the statement.

Police officers have not yet been able to confirm the identity of the accomplice.
