Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Crash on Route 29

The woman was reportedly standing next to her disabled vehicle when she was hit.

A Silver Spring woman was seriously injured on US Route 29 over the weekend when she was pinned against a guardrail, according to reports.

The crash happened at 9:48 p.m. Saturday on Route 29 south near MD Route 216, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Debra Watson, 50, was standing next to her disabled Pontiac van on the shoulder when a Volvo hit her, then her van pinned her against the guardrail, NBC DC reported.

Watson was taken to shock trauma, where she was listed in serious but stable condition Sunday, WBAL reported.

The driver of the Volvo, Daniel Kim, 58, was not injured, according to WUSA9, which reported he may have been impaired by alcohol and was not driving in one lane.

Southbound Route 29 was closed for two and a half hours as police investigated the crash, WBAL reported.

Here we were, in the midst of religious holidays, and people were driving as badly and as crazily as I have ever seen. Driving on 95 and 495 was just like taking your life into your hands. Someone raced in front of me, cut me off, then slammed on his brakes. All this instead of merging smoothly in behind me and then off the highway. When I honked at him, as I slammed on my brakes, he gave me the finger. I don't know what comes over people, but I know most people were driving aggressively. So it's not just a few bad apples out there as we are often led to believe. And it's not just drunks. It's men and women, most if them parents. I'm only surprised there weren't more casualties. And as an aside, in all my travels I saw one police officer on 95 on Saturday. Where was everyone posted?
