Howard County Says Goodbye to Police Chief William McMahon

After eight years, Howard County Police Chief William McMahon is turning over his post June 30 as he retires.

"For the past eight years I have worked closely with Chief McMahon. When I first met him, I appreciated the fact that as a father of three teenagers, he was very aware of the risks faced by our youth. When a constituent suggested the Collision Avoidance Training (C.A.T.) program, he worked with me to implement the advance defensive driving program for drivers ages 16-20. Over the last few years the C.A.T. program has trained dozens of young adults to be safer drivers. Chief McMahon is a well-respected leader locally, regionally and nationally for his professionalism, innovative approaches and commitment to public safety.
