Howard County Grand Jury Indictments Released Thursday

The Howard County Grand Jury handed down indictments at its meeting Wednesday.

The Howard County Grand Jury handed down indictments this week, including two cases of child abuse, three sex offense cases, several drug cases and the case of a man police accused of being a serial mall burglar.

The list of indictments released by the Howard County State’s Attorney’s office Thursday included a bench warrant for an arrest in multiple counts of child abuse and including a $250,000 bond.

In the sealed case, an unnamed person is charged with two counts of second-degree child abuse, one count of second-degree assault, contributing to acts; omission, and obstructing and hindering.

That case was presented by Howard County Det. Aaron Miller, and a bench warrant was issued.

Three indictments among the 16 handed down at the Howard County Grand Jury’s meeting Wednesday were sealed, meaning the names were not released.

Other charges on the indictment list included:  

--Daniel Ezekel Grant, 29, of Burtonsville. He was indicted on burglary charges associated with a theft at the Sears department store at .  He faces similar charges in Montgomery County for burglaries at Sears stores at White Oak Mall and at Lakeforest Mall, law enforcment officials said.

State attorney's officials said they believe he hid out in the stores, at closing, and pried open cash registers to steal cash inside.

--Roderick Warren Vaughn of Washington, D.C., was indicted on third and fourth-degree sex offenses and third-degree burglary, with a $200,000 bond.
