Home Invaders Steal Safe in Columbia: Howard County Crime Reports

Columbia

Robbery - Home Invasion

Three men, wearing all black, knocked on the door of home in the 9000 block of Watchlight Court around 3 a.m. on March 28. When a resident answered, one of the men punched the resident in the face. The men then pushed open the door and ran to a second-floor bedroom. They kicked the locked bedroom door open and stole a safe from the closet that reportedly contained prescription medicine and credit cards. The three men fled out the front door with the safe. The suspects were described by police as three black males, all about 20, one was heavyset, the other two had thin builds. All three were wearing black clothing.

Residential Burglary

A television and Blu-Ray player were stolen from a residence in the 5600 block of Cedar Lane in the evening on March 26. There were no signs of forced entry.

Possible Breaking and Entering

Someone entered or attempted to enter a vacant residence in the 6300 block of Wind River Way on March 27. 

Ellicott City

Armed Robbery

A man wearing a hoodie entered the Exxon gas station on Montgomery Road, grabbed a can of iced tea and brought it to the counter. When the clerk opened the cash register, the man displayed a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. He took money from the register, as well as the clerk's wallet and iPhone. The man then fled on foot toward condominums on Ericson Road then to the YMCA parking lot. Police described the suspect as a black male, 17-21 years old, with a thin build who was wearing a blue hoodie and black pants. The incident occurred on March 25 around 10:30 a.m.

Residential Burglary

Someone stole a 2000 red Honda 450 dirt bike by cutting the padlock on a shed at a residence in the 8800 block of Old Frederick Road on March 25.

Elkridge

Residential Burglary Attempt

A resident in the 5800 block of Whisper Way found evidence of an attempted burglary on March 27. The responding officer located the tip of a screwdriver broken off in the door jamb as well as tampering to the deadbolt, but no entry to the residence was made.

Clarksville

Residential Burglary

A cellphone, checkbook and bank statements were stolen from a residence in the 6600 block of Swing Court after someone gained entry to the home from the porch sometime overnight on March 25 - 26. The bank statements were later found in the 7300 block of Guilford Road.

Jessup

Commercial Burglary

Indian movies, pressure cookers and frying pans were stolen from Apna Bazaar in the 10100 block of Washington Blvd after someone threw a rock through the front glass door between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. on March 27.

Vehicle batteries and aluminum rims were taken from Crazy Ray's Junkyard in the 8100 block of Washington Boulevard after someone cut the lock to the scrap yard overnight on March 24 - 25.

Marriottsville

Construction Site Burglary

Someone stole 50 windows being stored in the basement of an unifinshed home in the 2300 block of Anderson Hill Street sometime overnight on March 22 - 23. Three homes are under construction at the site, and the windows and doors had not yet been installed.

County-wide Vehicle Thefts

A 2002 gold Buick Century was reported stolen in the 7100 block of Dorsey Run Road around 5:30 p.m. on March 26.
