Four Robberies Reported in Columbia Over Past 10 Days: Columbia Crime Reports

The following information was provided by the Howard County Police Department. Crimes were reported to police between Aug. 30 and Sept. 8, 2013.

Robbery

The victim and a friend drove to meet an unknown male to purchase drugs on Aug. 30. The victim handed the suspect money for the transaction and the suspect brandished a knife and then left in a car. The victim and the friend followed the suspect to Centennial Park, where they intended to confront him with an unloaded BB gun to retrieve the money. Once the suspect exited his vehicle and was confronted by the victim and his friend, the suspect verbally threatened the victim. The victim allowed the suspect to drive away. The incident was observed by an uninvolved third party.

Suspect: Black male, 5’10”, short dark hair, armed with a folding knife, and last seen wearing a long-sleeved dress shirt and black dress pants.

Robbery

A male was walking on the path in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road on Sept. 6 at 2:14 a.m., leading to the foot bridge that crosses over Rt. 29. He was approached by four males who struck him in the face, causing him to drop to the ground. The suspects struck him repeatedly, and one reached into the victim’s pocket and took cash. Then they fled toward Grand Point Apartments.

The victim gave her address to a man she had never met before. He came to her home in the 8500 block of Black Star Circle on Sept. 1 at 8:44 p.m. with two others. When the victim stated that they could not come in, they pushed open the door and entered. They took an iPhone, restrained one resident, and fled the scene on foot.

Police are looking for three men who reportedly entered a Goodwill Store, tied up two employees and stole cash on Sept. 5. Police are offering a $500 reward for information about the incident.

Inappropriate touching

A woman was walking on the foot path near Blade Green Lane on Sept. 5 at 6:40 p.m. She walked past the suspect, who was looking at his phone. A few moments later, the suspect ran up behind her, touched her inappropriately and ran off toward Maria Court. He was described as a black male, 5’10”, 150 lbs, with short black hair, in his late teens to early 20s. He was wearing a red muscle shirt, black athletic shorts and black sneakers. Police believe this may be the same suspect who has committed similar acts in recent weeks. Anyone with information should call 410-313-3700.

Commercial burglary

The front door glass was broken with a rock at Verizon Wireless Center, in the 6400 block of Dobbin Center Way on Sept. 4. Also, the rear stock room door was kicked open.

Commercial burglary

Someone broke into the Dunkin Donuts in the 8700 block of Centre Park Drive Sept. 1, early in the morning. They used a crow bar to pop the lock off of the front door to gain access to the building. Then, they pulled the security cameras from the rear office of the building, but did not take anything.

Residential burglary

Someone stole a wallet from an unlocked vehicle parked in a garage located in the 9000 block of Phillip Dorsey Way overnight Sept. 5. The garage was open, and the burglar also removed a bicycle from the wall, but didn’t take it because of a flat tire.

Vehicle theft

A silver 2008 Nissan Altima was stolen at the Park & Ride on Broken Land Parkway Sept. 7 at 4:20 p.m. Tags are North Carolina ABT1242.

A silver 2006 Hyundai Avera was stolen Sept. 6 just before 7 a.m. in the 5600 block of Columbia Road. Tags are MD 4EVJ52.

Vehicle theft

A light green 1999 Ford Expedition was stolen in the 8200 block of Columbia Overlook Drive on Aug. 25 at 10:56 a.m. Tags are MD 33196M9
