Forklift Used to Steal Copper, Woman Finds Unknown Man Sitting in Car: Columbia Crime Roundup

The following arrest information was supplied by the Howard County police department. It does not indicate a conviction. Crimes reported between August 11 - August 16.

 

Commercial Breaking and Entering

SAVAGE – An unknown suspect or suspects reportedly used a forklift to remove a large box of copper from Jaco Environmental near the 9000 block of Junction Drive in Savage sometime between 7 p.m., Aug. 14 and 7 a.m., Aug. 15.

Snack items were reportedly stolen from the “snack building” at Clary’s Forest Pool, 11600 Little Patuxent Parkway between 8:30 p.m. on August 11 and 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 12.

A woman opened her garage door to find a man sitting in her vehicle and yelled, “What are you doing in there?” at which point the suspect fled the residence near 5200 Rushlight Path. The incident occurred on Aug. 10 at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Transmission fluid and an unknown powder was reportedly poured by an unknown suspect or suspects on the hallway floor of a vacant townhouse near the 9200 block of Canterbury Riding on Aug. 13. Multiple burn marks were found on the ceiling of a bathroom, according to police.

Two bottles of cologne, a laptop, money and headphones were reportedly stolen from a house near the 6700 block of Iron Ore after an unknown suspect or suspects allegedly broke the deadbolt on a second floor apartment sometime between 10:30 a.m., Aug. 11 and 3 a.m., Aug. 14.

An unknown suspect or suspects allegedly gained entry to a residence near the 6600 block of Allen Lane by using an unknown object as a stepstool to enter a back window. An antique glass container of pennies and a gold Masonic ring were stolen from the residence between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 14.

CLARKSVILLE – A leaf blower and Yamaha mini dirt bike were reportedly stolen from an open garage at a residence near the 4600 block of Linthicum Road between 9 p.m., Aug. 11 and 12:40 p.m., Aug. 12.

CLARKSVILLE – A 2003 Yamaha motorcycle was reportedly stolen from a detached garage at a residence near the 4900 block of Linthicum Road on Aug. 10 or Aug. 11. Police believe entry was gained through an unlocked side door.

Catburglarly

A purse was reportedly stolen by an unknown suspect or suspects after entering a residence near the 6500 block of Ocean Shore Lane through an unlocked garage door on Aug. 13 at 5:25 a.m.

Vehicle Thefts and Attempts

A green 1999 Ford Expedition was reported stolen from the 9200 block of Lapwing Court around 7:54 a.m., Aug. 15. The vehicle was later recovered near the intersection of Cradlerock Farm Road and Cradlerock Way, where it had been driven into a pole, police reported the investigation is continuing.

A 2000 Plymouth Neon was reported stolen from the 5000 block of Blacksmith Drive at 8:55 a.m., Aug. 11.
