The robbery was at 8:41 p.m. on March 29. At 12:06 p.m. the next day, Capt. Jerard Flemings – commander of the Anne Arundel Police Department's western district – was on patrol in the community where the robbery occurred when he saw a vehicle similar to the car the suspect had been described as driving, police said.

That vehicle eventually led investigators to Papanicolas and to his arrest, police said. He had the robbery victim's identification and credit cards in his residence, and the victim identified him as the man who robbed her, police said.
