Fire Leaves Bus 'Fully Engulfed,' But No Injuries Reported

Eight people, including the driver, were on board.

Nobody was injured during an early morning bus fire in Columbia that sent the driver and seven passengers scurrying to safety, according to Jackie Cutler, spokeswoman for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue.

Fire crews were called at 6:15 a.m. on Monday to the intersection of Snowden River Parkway and Rustling Leaf. They arrived four minutes later to find a Howard Transit bus "fully engulfed in flames," Cutler said.

The driver and passengers had already evacuated. Nobody was injured during the fire, but one passenger later complained of trouble breathing and was subsequently taken to Howard County General Hospital, she said.
