Fire Destroys Columbia Home

A 2-alarm fire drew over 80 firefighters to the scene on Cardinal Lane in Columbia.

 

A 2-alarm fire destroyed a house near the 6200 block of Cardinal Lane in Hickory Ridge on Sunday night in Columbia, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Approximately 80 firefighters responded to the scene of the 2-alarm fire after they were notified by an alarm company that an alarm had been triggered around 7 p.m. Sunday.

The residents were able to escape without serious injuries, although one refused transport to a hospital, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and there is no damage estimates immediately available, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said the house is uninhabitable and the Red Cross is assisting the residents.
