Fire Department Launches Social Media Presence

Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services will officially be using Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to update the community.

 

Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS) officially announced it would be using social media sites to inform the community.

The department said in a news release it would be using the sites to provide information on fires, special events, disasters and weather emergencies.

"We're excited to use our social media presence to foster a more informed and engaged citizen base," said Fire/EMS Chief William Goddard in a release.

Department officials have already been active on their social media accounts. For example, on Twitter they let people know a was not carrying hazardous materials. On Facebook, department officials posted a photo of a recent barn fire in Ellicott City and photos of an overturned tractor trailer all three lanes of Route 32 south last week.
