Crime Roundup: Columbia Resident Scares Off Suspect

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Columbia: Break-In

Shortly before 7 p.m. on Feb. 24, a resident observed an unknown suspect inside of her residence, on the 9400 block of Old Man Court. Upon being seen, the suspect fled. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Between 11 p.m. on Feb. 25 and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 26, an unknown number of suspects pried open a window of International Halal Meat and Groceries, on the 8700 block of Town and Country Boulevard, and reached in to steal cigarettes. 

Jessup: Break-In

Between 8 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 8 a.m. on Feb. 24, an unknown number of suspects forced open the front door of a residence on the 8300 block of Ashwood Road, stealing cameras and music electronics.

Columbia: Break-In

On the night of Feb. 24, an unknown number of suspects broke into a vacant residence on the 7100 block of Natures Road. Police said it is unknown if anything was stolen.

Columbia: Break-In

Between Feb. 19 and Feb. 26, an unknown number of suspects took bicycles from the balcony of an apartment on the 10200 block of Hickory Ridge Road. Police said no entry was made into the apartment.

Elkridge: Break-In

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Feb. 26, an unknown number of suspects entered the rear window of a residence on the 6300 block of Beechfield Avenue. Police said nothing was reported missing or damaged.

Elkridge: Break-In Attempt

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 27, a suspect attempted to kick in the door of a motel on the 5800 block of Bonnie View Lane. Arriving officers located the suspect in the parking lot.

North Laurel: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 8 a.m. on Feb. 25, a white 2000 BMW Z231 with MD tags 2AJ6307 was stolen from the 9700 block of Evening Primrose Drive.

Columbia: Vehicle Theft Attempt

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 24, a 1999 Nissan Maxima was stolen from the 5700 block of Thunder Hill Road
