UPDATE: Columbia Woman, 42, Killed in Evening Collision

Police said the crash was the result of speed and failure to drive within a single lane.

Michele Lorenz, 42, of Columbia, was killed after her 1999 Dodge Dakota truck left the roadway and struck a tree around 9:30 p.m. on Monday night near the 5600 block of High Tor Hill in Long Reach, according to Howard County police.

Police believed the primary causes of the collision were speed and failure to drive within a single lane. Lorenz was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to police.

Lorenz was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle, according to police.
