Knifepoint Robbery, Wegmans Burglarized, Golf Cart Theft: Columbia Police Blotter

The Howard County Police Department provided the following information.

A 17-year-old Columbia man was charged in an armed street robbery in Elkridge.

Holding a knife, the man approached someone in the 6300 block of Washington Boulevard and demanded cash, police said.

The victim complied in the holdup, which occurred at approximately 12:33 p.m. on Sunday. Nobody was injured.

The suspect, who lives in the 9300 block of Guilford Road, was charged as an adult with armed robbery, second-degree assault, robbery and theft less than $100.

2 Burglaries, 1 Attempted Break-In

There was an attempted break-in to a residence in the 5000 block of Rushlight Path sometime between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Nothing was taken, and the attempt to get in through a window was unsuccessful.

Someone broke into Wegmans by prying open the front doors, then stole baby formula. The burglary in the 8800 block of McGaw Road occurred at 1:37 a.m. on Saturday.

Four people stole a golf cart from Tamar Meadow Apartments. The suspects got inside a shed in the 8600 block of Cobblefield Drive by prying open a shed door. The burglary occurred at approximately 3:36 p.m. on Friday.
