Daryl Jerome Berry, 45, of Columbia was shot three times and killed Tuesday night by a Pennsylvania State Trooper in a confrontation on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, according to the Waynesboro Pa. Record-Herald.
The trooper responded to a report of an accident near Brush Creek Township, PA, and found Berry and another motorist in an argument, according to news reports. When the trooper arrived, Berry reportedly approached the officer with two Rottweiler dogs.
Berry and the officer then got into a physical fight, during which Berry allegedly struck the trooper multiple times with a metal flashlight, according to a police report cited by the Record-Herald.
When the fight escalated, the trooper fired his gun, killing Berry, the report said. The trooper's name has not been released.
