Breaks-ins in Columbia, Elkridge, Ellicott City, Woodbine: Howard County Crime Roundup

A sampling of crime reported in Columbia and around Howard County.

Long Reach: Break-in

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in at the Long Reach Village Center, Suite 227, on the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court. The suspect or suspects entered by unknown means. The break-in was reported at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 18.

On March 13 at approximately 12:28 a.m., police responded to the 8100 block of Main Street for a reported fight. Officers arrived at the scene to find four adult males who had been involved in an altercation with a second group of unknown men. The second group of men fled on Main Street toward Baltimore County prior to police arrival. The four men present when police arrived had been injured in the fight. One of the men had been thrown through a glass window at a Main Street business and sustained cuts to his neck, face and arms. He was transported to Howard County General Hospital for treatment. The other men had minor injuries and refused treatment. The men were unable to provide descriptions of the suspects or a vehicle. No arrests were made.

Ellicott City: Burglary

Electronics, a television, video games and cash were stolen from a residence on the 9100 block of Windflower Way. The suspect or suspects entered after breaking a rear window. The burglary was reported at 12:56 p.m. on Sunday, March 20.

Ellicott City: Break-in/Vehicle theft

A known suspect pried open a front door and broke into a residence on the 12200 block of Triadelphia Road. The suspect ransacked the residence and then stole a 1995 GMC Suburban with Maryland license plate 50488M1. The break-in and theft happened sometime between 9 p.m. on Friday, March 18, and 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 19.

Ellicott City: Burglary

Copper pipes and a heat pump were stolen from a vacant home on the 4100 block of College Avenue. The suspect or suspects entered after tampering with a window. The burglary happened sometime between March 9 and March 18.

Ellicott City: Break-in

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in on the 8000 block of Brightwood Court. The suspect or suspects entered by forcing open a rear door. The break-in happened sometime between 3:50 and 6 p.m. on Friday, March 18.

Ellicott City: Break-in

A known suspect went inside a home on the 3100 block of St. Johns Lane without the resident's permission in what police are calling a domestic-related break-in. The incident was reported at 10:35 a.m. on Sunday, March 20.

Elkridge: Break-in (with arrest)

A Hanover man was arrested following a break-in on the 6500 block of Arrow Way.

Marcus Eric Rowland, 19, of the 6400 block of Norris Street, has been charged with fourth-degree burglary, failure to obey a police officer and disorderly conduct.

He is accused of knocking on the door of the residence, then pushing his way inside when the resident answered the door. The resident then pushed Rowland out and locked the door.

Police say they found Rowland upon arrival and that he appeared to be intoxicated.

Woodbine: Break-in Attempt

Nothing was taken following an attempted break-in on the 15000 block of Frederick Road. The suspect or suspects were able to enter the property after cutting a hole in a fence, then sought to enter a shed by tampering with a lock, but was unable to get inside. The attempted break-in happened sometime between 5:45 p.m. on Friday, March 18, and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19.

Columbia: Vehicle thefts

- A 2004 Jaguar with Maryland license plate 4BGW18 was stolen from the 4900 block of Columbia Road. It was reported stolen at 1:21 p.m. on Friday, March 18.

- A black 2007 Honda Accord with Maryland license plate 5ECV08 was stolen from the 5500 block of April Journey. It was reported stolen at 4:34 a.m. on Monday, March 21.
