Breaking-and-Showering, Stolen ATM in Stolen Van and More: Crime Roundup

Columbia: 

Police reported the second robbery near Swift Stream Place in two days -Read more about that incident by clicking here.

Suspects broke into a home on the 7200 block of Single Wheel Path between 8:20 a.m. and noon Oct. 23 through a back window, according to police. The victim reported stolen a television, video game system, laptop computer, digital camera, antique coins and jewelry.

Glenelg:

Someone pried the front glass doors open at the Ten Oaks Pharmacy, on the 3900 block of Ten Oaks Road, early on the morning of Oct. 23, according to police. Nothing seemed to be stolen or disturbed and police say there was no evidence to suggest anyone entered the store.

Ellicott City:

A Schwinn bicycle was stolen from the 3700 block of Chateau Ridge Drive sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 24, according to police. A garage door was likely left open, police said. 

Police say a safe with a diamond ring, a large amount of cash and some documents were taken from a home on the 6400 block of Lochridge Road sometime between Oct. 18 and Oct. 21. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence.

Sometime between 11:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 23, someone kicked in the front door to a home on the 8300 block of Falls Chill Court, according to police. Costume jewelry may have been stolen from the home.

Elkridge

Police say that on Oct. 24, someone had forced open a door at the Terrace Motel on the 6200 block of Washington Blvd. When they entered the room, police say they found a man in the shower.  Police say the 41-year-old homeless man said he had not had a shower in weeks. He was arrested and charged with burglary.

Police say suspects backed up a vehicle to the fenced yard at Crazy Rays on the 8100 block of Washington Blvd and climbed the fence sometime between 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 24.  Once inside, according to police, the suspects threw about 100 used batteries over the fence and loaded them inside the vehicle. 

On Oct. 22 between 5:20 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., police say suspects kicked in a door on the second level of a residence on the 6500 block of Ducketts Lane and stole cash. 

Laurel: 

Police say a man asked for a room at the Sleep Inn, on the 10100 block of Washington Blvd. on Oct. 25 at about 1:45 p.m. When the clerk told him that there were no rooms, the man asked to use the restroom, according to police.

When the clerk said there was no restroom available, according to police, the man leaped over the counter, grabbed the clerk, pushed him to the floor and showed a gun. At that point, according to police, another man appeared at the front door and the first man sole cash from the register. The victim said both men fled toward the back of the building.

Police are looking for the following suspects:

• Male, 6-foot-2, 270-plus lbs. He was wearing a green Northface jacket  with hoodie covering his face, gloves, beige or gray pants and black and white sneakers.

• Male, 5-foot-11, medium build. He was wearing a black jacket with hoodie underneath and jeans.

Suspects stole a lawn mower, chain saw, power washer, weed whacker and tool box from an unlocked shed on the 9300 block of Kings Post Road, according to police. 

Jessup: 

On Oct. 20, workers at Central Lewmar Warehouse on the 7700 block of Waterloo Road said they heard a loud banging as if someone was tying to kick in the plywood doors. They had been kicked in during previous burglaries, according to the workers, so there were cinder blocks holding the doors shut. No one entered the building, but workers told police they saw a suspect driving off on a dirtbike.  Two days later, workers noticed a window near the door had been shattered.

The suspect is described as a man, older than 18, 6-feet-tall and 180 to 190 pounds. He was riding a green and white dirt bike and wearing a helmet and gloves.

West Friendship:

An ATM was stolen on Oct. 24 from a High’s Dairy on the 12700 block of Frederick Road. In the investigation, police identified a white van that may have been involved in the incident. Police tried to stop a van matching its description near US Route 40 close to the Baltimore County line, but the vehicle sped off.

The van stopped near Laurel, according to police, and the driver fled. Police searched but did not find the driver. Police did find an ATM inside the van, which, according to police, was stolen from Prince George’s County.
