Break-ins in Columbia: Howard County Crime Roundup

A sampling of crime reported in Columbia and around Howard County.

Long Reach: Burglary

Money was stolen from a residence on the 5400 block of Stormdrift. The suspect got inside through a pet door and was captured on video by a webcam. The suspect is described as a male of unknown race; 14 to 18 years old; with short, dark hair; and wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, bright red shoes and a blue backpack.

Harper’s Choice: Break-in

Nothing was taken following a break-in on the 11200 block of Ridermark Row. The suspect or suspects got inside after throwing a rock through the kitchen window. The break-in happened sometime between 11 a.m. and 4:49 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.

Kings Contrivance: Break-in

A suspect wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt broke into a residence on the 9700 block of Polished Stone. A resident heard footsteps and soon heard the suspect leave. The break-in happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17. 

Beaverbrook: Break-in attempt

No entry was gained during an attempted break-in on the 5200 block of Durham Road East. The suspect or suspects tried to get inside by removing a door screen. The attempted break-in happened sometime between Thursday, May 12, and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 16.

Fulton: Burglary

Copper wire was stolen from a construction site on the 7800 block of Tuckahoe Court. The burglary happened sometime between 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13, and 7 a.m. on Monday, May 16. 

Laurel: Break-in attempt

No entry was gained during an attempted break-in on the 9700 block of Country Meadows Lane.  The suspect or suspects tried to get inside by cutting a screen on a rear window. The attempted break-in was reported at about 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17.

West Friendship: Vehicle theft

A blue 2000 Ford Windstar was stolen from the intersection of Route 32 and Fox Chase Road. No date and time was given for the theft.

Columbia: Vehicle theft attempt

The suspect or suspects attempted to steal a red 2006 Chevrolet HHR from the 10300 block of Hickory Ridge Road. Wires were hanging from underneath the glove box. The attempted vehicle theft was reported at 12:46 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17.
