Bike Thief Swaps One Bicycle for Another: Columbia Police Blotter

The Howard County Police Department provided the following information.

The Howard County Police Department issued a word of caution Monday after thefts were reported during the sunshine-filled weekend. Police said that residents should close and lock garage doors when doing work around the outside of their houses. They should also lock doors leading to the house from the garage, police added.

The following incidents were recently reported in Columbia, according to police:

A bike was stolen from a yard in the 11200 block of Avalanche Way sometime between Friday and Sunday.

A bicycle was stolen from an open garage, where the suspect replaced it with another bike. The theft from the 9600 block of Sea Shadow was reported at 9:10 a.m. on Friday.

There was an attempt to steal a 2000 blue Volkswagen Passat from the 11600 block of Little Patuxent Parkway. The attempt was reported at 6:49 p.m. on Sunday.
