Columbia Crime Roundup: Attempted Robbery of River Hill High Student

The following arrest information was supplied by the Howard County police department. It does not indicate a conviction. Crimes reported from Sept. 28 to Sept. 30.

Attempted Robbery

A River Hill High School student was reportedly walking home after a school activity near the 5700 block of Whistling Winds Walk when an unknown suspect allegedly grabbed her backpack from behind on Sept. 28 around 9 p.m. The victim kicked the male suspect, who fled into the woods. Nothing was taken according to police.

Residential Burlary

An unknown suspect or suspects reportedly used a set of stairs in the rear of a residence near the 5400 block of Thunder Hill Road to access the roof and then enter the residence through a skylight, which was pried open, above the kitchen. Two computers and cash were allegedly stolen sometime between midnight and 7 p.m. on Sept. 28.

Catburglary - A purse was reported stolen from the kitchen of a residence near the 10600 block of Quarterstaff Road between 12:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. after an unknown suspect or suspects allegedly gained entry through an unsecured door in an open garage. The purse was recovered nearby by police, but cash was stolen.

Vehicle Thefts

A gray Acura TL was reported stolen between midnight and 7:29 a.m. near the 9700 block of Clocktower Lane on Sept. 30.

A 1998 silver Toyota Rav 4 was reported stolen overnight on Sept. 27 near the 5100 block of Phantom Court.
