Anne Arundel Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Columbia

Chase leads into Howard County. Police are refusing to release the suspect's name.

Police are refusing to release the name of a man accused of robbing a bank in Anne Arundel County and leading police on a chase that ultimately ended on a Columbia highway.

The robbery happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Washington Savings Bank in the 600 block of Old Mill Road in Millersville, according to Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.

Witnesses there said a man entered the bank, gave the bank teller a note demanding money, received money and then left. He was seen getting into a red Pontiac Firebird that then drove away on Veterans Highway.

Police later spotted the vehicle near the intersection of Interstate 97 and Interstate 695. They gave chase, following the vehicle into Howard County, where the man pulled over on Broken Land Parkway and surrendered.
